How to overcome the fear of public speaking

One of the common fears people deal with in their lives, is fear of public speaking. It can be dreadful for some. There are a lot of people who feel anxious and nervous when they are about to speak in public. For those who have to make public speeches as a part of their daily life it may turn to a tremendous problem. So here we are going to talk about ways to overcome the fear of public speaking.
First of all take this into consideration that public speaking has never killed anyone. So no matter how nervous and anxious you are, just go there and start talking without any fear. You may feel depressed at the first few moments, but then your fear will gradually fade away.
The second thing you can do is to imagine that all those people are empty chairs. It is acceptable that having to speak in front of a big bunch of people may cause fear, but if you imagine that you are speaking for empty chairs and it is only you there making a speech, your fear will be decreased. At first few moments this may be impossible because you see a lot of eyes staring at you, but after some moments you will be able to control your fear.
It is good to look in the audiences and find those faces that seem to be interested in your speech. Keep eye contact with them. This can help you a lot to overcome your fear.
Sometimes the fear of public speaking is because we expect too much of ourselves.
Just don’t make things that much complicated and try to deliver your speech at ease.
Another reason that causes fear of public speaking is that most of the people are afraid of being judged negatively or criticized. Sometimes they fear disappointing people who currently think well of them.
It’s better to get these ideas out of your mind since making mistakes and failures are not bad. They can teach you. And anyone may make mistakes. So you shouldn’t fear that you are going to lose your audiences. Whenever you fear something like public speaking, the best solution is to change your belief on a very deep and emotional way. This may seem not practical, but if you give it a second thought you will come to this conclusion that in most cases our fears are not based on reality and we shouldn’t fear those things.
